As I type there’s a trending topic on twitter which reads, ‘Blue Ivy is Flawless’. This refers to Beyonce and Jay Z’s baby, I guess most of us know that. This is pretty ridiculous, no? This is mental. She’s flawless as opposed to what, all the other babies around who are so full of flaws?!

As far as personality goes, babies are all the epitome of innocence and perfection, which pretty obviously is due to their youth. They’ve not yet been corrupted, they don’t understand enough to be corrupted, nor how to allow themselves to be. As far as appearance goes, perhaps she is a good looking baby. In fact, I had a quick nose at the picture and yep, she’s pretty cute. But ‘flawless’ is a strange choice of word…were these people looking for flaws whilst studying the picture? Is this what they do when presented with the image of a baby, and do they compare babies to each other, looking for the ugs of the bunch? (Okay, I’m guilty of that at one time perhaps…).

What I’m in disbelief at is that so many people have read that, agreed sufficiently enough to tweet it again in some form, as if it’s a standard and useful observation. What???? Twitter has the ability to make me thoroughly depressed about the world sometimes, it really does. But then I just read a few tweets by Gus the Fox, and everything seems okay.

Probably the best thing I’ve made ever ever. Rosette awarded to my boyfriend for completing his cupcake hunt on Easter Sunday morning. Such a sporting achievement deserves a cosmic prize. I think it’s pretty rad. He however was fairly underwhelmed by the whole thing, mainly because he was hanging out his arse. Whatevs, it’s rad.

It really is. There’s so much fun stuff to do, to see, to eat, to smell. As we play, we experience the fun, absorbing each element into our being. And to appreciate these things, to show our appreciation of them, is enriching.

Sometimes occasionally, sometimes often, but never never, we tumble as we slide, trip as we skip, or fumble upon shit in the sandpit. The manky and painful occurs, and it sucks. But we just need to see it as a blip in what was previously a fun day out, and crack on. So let’s go.

And so we have the theme of my spangly (not so much) new tumblr. The fun things in life, the things to pay attention to, to feel passionate about, to experience, to love. But the shit…well it can’t just be ignored. Perhaps sometimes there’s action to be taken, perhaps there’s not. Let’s find out, shall we?

I like this painting by Magda Archer. I guess it’s kind of the opposite to what I’m trying to say, but it seems fitting somehow, nonetheless.
